FDOT 2022 FLORIDA AVIATION ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has released an update of its Florida Aviation Economic Impact Study (AEIS), which quantifies the economic impact associated with the state’s aviation system. The 2022 FDOT AEIS results show that the NSB Airport supports 1,701 jobs and generates a total economic impact of $241 million annually.

This represents a 40% increase from FDOT’s previous valuation of NSB Airport’s annual economic impact of over $171 million in 2019.

The study was completed by FDOT in December 2022 and used calendar year 2021 data to quantify the $336 billion economic impact associated with over 125 public-use airports, 11 military installations, off-airport air cargo services, and aviation-reliant industries in the state of Florida.

The FDOT study includes an evaluation of five different elements – on-airport impacts, visitor spending impacts, air cargo impacts, military impacts, and industry reliance impacts.
